BARFER’s Wellfood is a leading online shop for species-appropriate dog nutrition based on the BARF principle (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food). The company offers high-quality, natural products for healthy and balanced dog nutrition. To meet the growing demands of e-commerce, the existing online shop needed to be technically modernized and the user experience optimized.

Project Description
As a Senior Frontend Developer, I was involved in the further development of the online shop for BARFER’s Wellfood on behalf of Springwork GmbH. The project aimed to enhance and optimize the existing Magento-based shop through a modern headless architecture with Vue.js Storefront in the frontend.
My main responsibilities included developing new features in the frontend with Vue.js, TypeScript, and SASS, optimizing the user interface for mobile devices, and integrating with the Magento REST API. I worked closely with another frontend developer to create a performant and user-friendly shopping experience.
A special focus was placed on mobile-first optimization, as a large portion of customers access the shop via mobile devices. By using modern frontend technologies and best practices, we were able to significantly improve performance and usability.

Results
Through the implementation of the headless architecture with Vue.js Storefront, the performance of the online shop was significantly improved. Loading times were reduced and user-friendliness, especially on mobile devices, was considerably enhanced.
The modern frontend architecture enables BARFER’s Wellfood to quickly respond to market demands and efficiently implement new features. The clear separation of frontend and backend also creates a solid foundation for future extensions and scaling of the shop.
