Project Description
As part of this project, I was significantly involved as a frontend developer in the optimization and expansion of Tom Tailor’s existing B2B web shop. The focus was on making it easier for retailers to order and view goods, as physical showrooms were not accessible during the pandemic.
A central aspect of my work was the implementation of new features such as virtual product views and the ability to order pre-configured product packages (sets) directly. These features made it easier for retailers to select and order without relying on personal consultation.
Additionally, my tasks included optimizing the user interface, fixing existing bugs, and continuously developing the system to improve both usability and stability and scalability.
Challenges and Solutions
Complex Feature Implementation
The introduction of new features had to be designed to be both user-friendly and visually appealing.
Solution: Use of modern frontend technologies such as Tailwind CSS and Storybook to ensure a consistent and intuitive UI.
Efficiency Improvement for Ordering Processes
Retailers needed simple ways to quickly order product sets while maintaining a clear overview.
Solution: Development of a clear module for pre-configured product packages with direct integration into the ordering process.
Performance and Scalability
The extensions and growing use of the web shop placed demands on the system's performance.
Solution: Optimization of data flows and careful coordination with the backend team to ensure smooth performance.
Results
The further development of the B2B web shop enabled Tom Tailor to optimally support their retailers during the pandemic. New features such as virtual product view and ordering of product packages significantly improved the user experience.
Through continuous optimizations in the front and backend, the stability and scalability of the system could be ensured. The efficiency of ordering processes and user-friendliness were significantly increased, which sustainably increased retailer satisfaction.
With my experience in modern frontend technologies and my ability to transform complex requirements into intuitive solutions, I was able to make a significant contribution to the success of this project.
